Cell Comment in EXCEL2007 is not auto hidden

Unlike EXCEL2003, the cell comments entered are not automatically hidden in EXCEL2007.
Any means to make the hiding default other than right clicking the cell, and hide the comment every time?

Can you check your option settings: click the Office button, then Excel Options (at bottom), then click Advanced on the left, then scroll down to the Display section and see what the setting is below 'For cells with comments, show'...
Sounds like you want the middle option: 'Indicators only, and comments on hover'.
If that is already ticked then we need to try something else.

Run CHKDSK to Fix Cell Comment in EXCEL2007 is not auto hidden

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Reboot your computer.

An error might pop up:
