Corrupted Recycle bins in Windows 7 Home Premium
I am running windows 7 home premium and constantly get warned that my recycle bins on all my drives are corrupted.
I have three independent drives with my C drive being the drive with my operating system.
I will admit that at one stage I had very little
space on all three drives; but since then, only one drive is still in the red.
I've tried solving the problem by deleting my recycle bins on all three drives by using the elevated command prompt, and have even run the file checker on my primary drive.
I've
even checked all three volumes for errors using the disc checking facility provided in windows 7.
Does anyone have any further solutions for my dilemma?
Copy and pasted from duplicated thread:
Can this 'corrupted recycle bin' problem be caused by overfilled drives.
At one stage, all three my harddisks had practically no storage space on them, and only one of them had windows 7 installed as my Os.
That was the first time I got the notification
that my recycle bins on all three were corrupted.
The consequece was that, when I connected my external drives to my computer, their recycle bins too we shown to be corrupted.
My question being; Can the lack of drivespace contribute to the problem? Would a change in my user profile alleviate the problem?
I have since ensured that only one of my drives is in the red "space wise" and that the drive on which my Os is installed has sufficient space available; but the problme still recurs.
I'm at my wits end and just short of reinstalling my complete system;
which would be quite a schlepp really but a passable remedy if I don't find any other.

Hi DirtyRadar,
Follow the methods listed below to resolve the issue:
Method 1: Fixing a corrupt Recycle Bin
IMPORTANT: The following procedure permanently deletes all files and folders which are already in the Recycle Bin (from all user accounts in the system) and cannot be recovered.
a. Open an elevated Command Prompt window.
To open an elevated Command Prompt, click Start, type
cmd, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
b. Type the following command and press ENTER:
rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin
(This clears out the $Recycle.bin folder from the C:\ partition.
You may have to do this for each hard disk partition (E:\ in your case) in your system depending on the corruption)
c. Exit the Command Prompt window.
Method 2: I would suggest you to create a new user account and check.
If it works in a new user account, then probably your user account may have been corrupted and would need a fix.
Create a user profile.

Don't Download Malware
Where are you getting the download?
There are malicious people who download valid copies of a popular download, modify the file with malicious software, and then upload the file with the same name. Make sure you are downloading from the developer's web page or a reputable company.
Cancel or deny any automatic download
Some sites may automatically try start a download or give the appearance that something needs to be installed or updated before the site or video can be seen. Never accept or install anything from any site unless you know what is downloading.
Avoid advertisements on download pages
To help make money and pay for the bandwidth costs of supplying free the software, the final download page may have ads. Watch out for anything that looks like advertisements on the download page. Many advertisers try to trick viewers into clicking an ad with phrases like "Download Now", "Start Download", or "Continue" and that ad may open a separate download.
