Computer taking long time to boot and locking up!

I use Windows 7 and have Webroot anti-virus programing on my laptop. Yesterday my computer took 3 hours to boot and then it is running super slow and keeps locking up! I have tried to run a scan and it locks up in the same place everytime! Any suggestions?
I know very little about computers! Thanks!

If it takes a long time to get to the Windows logon, the hard drive has a problem.

What happens is simple.
Clusters on the hard drive start to fail, and the computer has to move data from bad clusters to good.
In cases like this, you can either leave ity as it is, or consider replacing the drive and cloning the installation soon, or
wait until it becomes a critical problem, in which case everything will have to be re-installed..

Manually editing the Windows registry

Click the Start button.
Type "command" in the search box... DO NOT hit ENTER yet!

In the Registry Editor, select the Error 0x9C-related key (eg. Windows Operating System) you want to back up.

In the File Name box, type a name for your backup file, such as "Windows Operating System Backup".
In the Export Range box, be sure that "Selected branch" is selected.
Click Save.
The file is then saved with a .reg file extension.
You now have a backup of your MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION-related registry entry.
