DDE no longer works on Vista

I was running a currency trading package called Metatrader with DDE turned on and working with a complementary package called Hercules - my wife accepted a windows update and the DDE transfer of data no longer works - I checked with a friend who runs the
same packages in XP and the data is still present so it should work in Vista - could some setting be changed by the update that has affected DDE I am running Vista Home Premium'

A system restore is not possible since we have actually bought a new computer to recover from a problem with our old computer - a disk failure reulted n a need to rebuild and we started over - I have added programs and going back would cause major problems
- does Vista have problems with DDE? I wanted to use this in an access mdb database alsa
