I bought Windows 7 Ultimate N, thinking that it was the last time ever that I would need to change an operating system.

I read all of the advice in various Microsoft forums concerning this message but haven't been able to rectify the error, after several
I have to make real copies to DVD to save my Documents.
The latest problem is that Adobe Acrobat loads but then receives an error:-
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.
This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I have been to Adobe and to Microsoft and tried all of the suggested tactics without success.
I am a bit reticent to muck about with the registries but I have done what was suggested.
I have wasted a whole day.
The truth is that I am not sure if it is Windows
7 is completely at fault generally, or whether it is the enhanced security of the system.
I am absolutely 'P'd' off.
I am that close to going back to Windows XP or even further.
