Boot time for 83-88 processes with Windows 7

New Gateway laptop NV59C with Windows 7, Intel Core i3-370M processor with 83-88 processes takes longer to boot than old Dell Inspiron E1705 with Windows XP running 60-62 processes.
Please tell me the average boot time I should expect with Windows 7 and whether it is normal to have difficulty trying to open applications if I don't wait long enough.
How do I know I have allowed enough time other than setting a timer for at least 5 minutes which I have been doing just to be certain I won't have a problem?

If you have two AV programs running, Avast and Online Armor, they will conflict with one another and cause problems you need to uninstall one.
Personally I would also junk Secunia PSI any free tool that claims to find and install patches / updates is IMO

After deactivating Secunia PSI and uninstalling Windows Live Essentials PC now boots with 65-70 processes (vs.
83-88).
It seems to be booting somewhat faster.
I like the CNET application as, among other things, the appearance of its scanner box serves as
an accurate indicator that PC is booted.
In Safe Mode there are 24 processes.
The Online Armor application is a firewall only with Avast being the antivirus.
I plan to research other programs that I could uninstall and reinstall at a later time should I choose. I think the next uninstall will be WiMAX broadband application which I don't plan on subscribing to.
