What is the minimum C:\ drive size for Dell Factory Image Restore to work

What is the minimum C:\ drive size for Dell Factory Image Restore to work

[also posted in Dell forums but I thought someone here might know enough about the subject to help me]
My Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with Win7x64 comes with an extra partition containing a Dell Factory Image that can be used in an emergency to restore the system to what it was I have 8 GB Ram and 1 Trib HD but Win7 says it cannot Easy Transfer my files not enough space! when I first opened the box.
I want to split my current C drive into 2 partitions so I can make them 2 separate drives - C:\ for the Windows installation Facebook Icons For Chat Sites with all applications and D:\ for my data files.
I do not intend to alter the Dell Factory Image Restore partition at all but I'd like to ensure it's available & still functional for future use in an emergency.
Does Dell Factory Image Restore need a minimum size for the C:\ drive for it to work should I ever need it?
In other words, how big was the drive that the Dell Factory Image Restore was made from?
I believe that I need an answer to this question because I've been looking into system images [which is what I believe the Dell Factory Image Restore facility is] and I've seen warnings that an image cannot be restored to a smaller drive than the one
it was made from [even if only a small part of that original drive had info on it when the image was made].
The reason I want to do this is to allow me to make regular system images of the How to Fix - i am getting internet explorer aborting operati C:\ drive for normal recovery purposes and just have a conventional incremental
backup set for the D:\ drive.
A system image of the current C:\ drive [i.e.
with Win7, all apps, all data] is just too big & time consuming to be practicable].
I want to reduce my C:\ drive to 40 or 50 GB [it currently uses 33GB for all of Win7 & apps]
and make the new data drive D:\ have the rest [about 250GB].
I know the upgrade from VISTA to Windows 7 and can’t use Virtual PC procedure for changing the partitions using Win7 utilities.
That seems straightforward given the good advice I found in this forum.
I know the procedure for changing the location of my Documents & Desktop folders.

I don't intend why is the date wrong on programs ? [Solved] altering my user profile or any of the AppData folders as I've seen the warnings
about that.
